Men's basketball announces Summit League schedule

Three home games in the final month of the season highlight the Summit League portion of South Dakota State's 2017 men's basketball schedule, officially released on GoJacks.com Monday. Tipoff times and television information will be announced at a later date.

The Jackrabbits will host Omaha, North Dakota State, Western Illinois and South Dakota over the final four weeks of the regular season, setting the stage for an exciting race to the 2018 Summit League Tournament.

"We are excited for another season of Summit League basketball," head coach T.J. Otzelberger said. "The quality of the teams, coaches and players is very high, and we're looking forward to embracing great competition each night we take the floor in conference play."

SDSU opens Summit League action after the new year, traveling to North Dakota State (Jan. 4) and Omaha (Jan. 6) in the first week of 2018 before a pair of home games against Oral Roberts and Denver the following weekend, Jan. 11 and 13.

From there, SDSU heads for Western Illinois in a Jan. 20 contest ahead of a trek back to the Rushmore State for a midweek bout at rival South Dakota Jan. 24.

Continuing a string of five games in 12 days, State then returns to Brookings to host Fort Wayne, the Mavericks and the Bison Jan. 27, 30 and Feb. 1.Â

After a weeklong hiatus from the court, Summit League action restarts for the Jacks with a road trip to Denver and Tulsa, Oklahoma Feb. 8 and 10.

Another seven-day break leads the Jacks into its final homestand when Western Illinois comes to town Feb. 17, and Senior Day will pit SDSU and USD against each other Feb. 22 in another round of the SD Corn Showdown Series.

The regular season wraps up for the Jackrabbits Feb. 24 at Fort Wayne, and the Summit League Tournament runs March 3-6 at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
