MEETS 3 & 4: South Dakota State (Men & Women) host SDSU DII Invite & Jim Emmerich Invite |
The South Dakota State track and field teams will host two meets this weekend, one being the SDSU DII Invitational and the Jim Emmerich Invitational being the other. Most of the team will compete in Saturday's meet with the potential of having Jackrabbits in 17 events with NCAA DIÂ top 150 ranked competition.
SDSU DII Invite (Friday)
Field events will begin at 1:30Â p.m. with the men's teams competing in the weight throw and the women's teams throwing the shot put. Both men's and women's long jump will begin at 2 p.m. along with men's pole vaulting.

Track events will start with the women's preliminary round of the 60m hurdles at 1:45 p.m. The last scheduled event, the 4x400m relay is scheduled for 8:35 p.m.
There will 25 teams represented and over 900 athletes competing in this year's SDSUÂ DII Invite. (

Jim Emmerich Invite (Saturday) **Times are still tentative until Heat Sheets are finalized Friday Afternoon
The men's teams will kickoff the field events on Saturday at noon with the weight throw while the women's teams begin at the shot put ring.

The women's "B" section of the 3,000m will get underway at 12:15 p.m. Then SDSU's macot, Jack, will arrive to run with the fans, under the ages of 10, in the 60m at 12:30 p.m. Followed by the alumni mile scheduled at 12:35 p.m. The other two alumni events throughout the day include: 60m at 1:40 p.m., 4x300m relay at 2:20 p.m. The 4x400m relay is set to start at 5:05 p.m. to end the evening.

The notable schools scheduled to compete on Saturday are: Iowa Central, Minnesota, Nebraska-Omaha, North Dakota, North Dakota State, Northern Iowa, South Dakota.

Recent Jim Emmerich Performances
During the 2017 Jim Emmerich, sophomore
Sam Zenner broke the school record in the 60m (6.84) for second place at his first meet as a Jackrabbit. The previous school record was held by LeAndre Kennedy (6.87), who is now ranked third on the school's top-10 list.

Juniors
Emily Donnay and
Rachel King recorded her first races of the 2017 indoor season at the Jim Emmerich last season. King won the race (9:54.92) with Donnay quickly behind her as runner-up (9:55.45). State graduate Carly Carper notched her second 60m-title (7.57) in as many meets of the early 2017 season.

SDSU graduate, Alejandro Sanchez, recorded the SJAC record in the 800m, notching 1:51.68 in the 2016 Jim Emmerich. It still stands as the Jim Emmerich 800m recorded. Junior
Kyle Burdick recorded his career-first mile time of 4:16.08, while it was junior
Ephram Albrecht's third meet of his freshman year. He tripled jumped to his first career-win and indoor personal best of 47-08.00.

In 2016, SDSU graduate Jazzelina Black gathered a win in the women's triple jump (41-06.00) while junior
Renae Dykstra recorded her personal-best 800m (2:13.61).

Men's Team
One week removed from the Bison Classic and 20 of the student-athletes that competed in the same events in the first two meets of the season, 16 of them had better marks on their home track, including eight personal-bests.

Highlighting the results from the Bison Classic was freshman
Trent Francom and junior
Skyler Monaghan. Francom reach a height of 16-01.75 in the pole vault, the school's third-best height. Monaghan jumped the Jackrabbit season leaderboard in his first 400m race. His finish of 49.83 is the best among Jack for the season and it ranks fourth in The Summit League, 115th in the country.

There were 11 Jacks who remained in the NCAA DI top 150 performance list from their season bests at the SDSU Holiday Open. Freshman
Trent Francom improved his pole vault height from the Bison Classic to remain in the top 100 and junior
Skyler Monaghan ran his first 400m to notch a NCAA top-120 mark.

Trevor Capra are the lone active Jackrabbits who are record holders in the Jim Emmerich Invite. Burdick holds the meet record in the mile (4:11.38), set last season. Capra also set his meet record last season in the 3,000m. Burdick also has the SJAC record in the 3,000m, posting 8:09.92 in The Summit League Championships last season.

Vanessa Lane, who recorded a personal best (7.86) in the 60m. Freshman
Amy Muller also noted a significant performance in the pole vault, notching 11-00.25 and seventh on SDSU's all-time top 10 leaderboard. Junior
Kasie Vollmer and freshman
Madison Mingo recorded personal best marks from last weekend. Vollmer launched a shot put 47-09.00 while Mingo cleared 5-02.50 in the high jump.
