The South Dakota State men's swimming and diving team ended the first day of the Minnesota Invitational competing in prelims and then finals to finish day one of the three day invite.
The Jacks competed in the 200 freestyle relay and had two teams falling into the top-five spots. The SDSU 'A' team came in with a time of 1:30.77 (Polito, Sinclair, Thomsen and Garrigues) to finish in fourth and the SDSU 'B' team was close behind with a time of 1:34.29 (Hadleigh, Peters, Roberts and Manning) to end up in fifth.
Mark Garrigues took 19th in the 200 IM with a time of 2:00.13 and Chris Holzwarth landed one place behind him with a 2:01.60.
During the 400 medley relay the SDSU 'A' team came in third with at time of 3:40.35 (Holzwarth, Thomsen, Mueller and Garrigues). The Jackrabbits are currently in 15th place out of 15 teams at the Minnesota Invite with the host team (University of Minnesota) leading the meet.
The men are back to work tomorrow and Sunday at the Minnesota Invitational in Minneapolis, Minn.
