STEERING COMMITTEE RESPONSIBILITIES
The steering committee is responsible for:
1. Assisting in the coordination of activities of the subcommittees.
2. Monitoring progress of the self-study.
3. Ensuring that opportunities for input are given to appropriate campus constituent groups and individuals and there is appropriate involvement of all members of the steering committee and subcommittees when gathering data and preparing reports.
4. Meeting with the subcommittee chairpersons as needed.
5. Preparing agendas and recording minutes of each steering committee meeting.
6. Reviewing and distributing the final report to the NCAA and university community and general public.

RESPONSIBILITIES
The subcommittees are responsible for:
1. Reviewing the 2006-2007 certification handbook and self-study instrument.
2. Collecting and analyzing data from appropriate individuals, groups and written reports.
3. Preparing responses to each item in assigned section of the self-study.
4. Determining if SDSU is in compliance with the operating principles.
5. Identifying areas of strength and areas in need of improvement.
6. Following timelines and meeting deadlines for reports.
7. Providing the steering committee with reports for review.
8. Developing with the Athletics Department recommendations/plans for improvement as identified including measurable goals, process to achieve goals, responsible party and approval from steering committee chair and University President.
