South Dakota State returns to Brookings this week after a season-long road trip that saw the Jackrabbits go 1-3, which included one non-conference loss, one premier win and a pair of Summit League losses.
The highlight of the trip came on Dec. 23, when the Jackrabbits snapped a 17-game road losing streak and beat a BCS conference school for the first time in a 65-58 win at Iowa State.
A pair of conference losses at Oakland and at IPFW followed the big win, sending the Jacks home with a 6-10 overall record and a 1-3 record in league play.
The Jackrabbits found another bright spot on the trip, when the team combined for an SDSU record 15 three-pointers at Oakland, breaking the old record of 14, which the Jacks did twice, first in a 90-77 loss at Nebraska-Omaha on Jan. 31, 1987 and again in a 92-79 home win over South Dakota on Jan. 9, 2004. Brothers Garrett and Griffan Callahan combined for ten of the record 15 threes, while Garrett came up one three-point make shy of tying Randy Suaraz with eight treys, which he did in a 79-72 overtime loss against Augustana (S.D.) on Feb. 7, 1987.
