South Dakota State leaves the snow and cold in Brookings this weekend for a weekend series against Centenary in Shreveport, La., where show and cold should not be a problem, as the weather calls for sunshine and temps in the 72-79 degree range.
The Jackrabbits did not battle any snow last weekend when they hosted Southern Utah in the earliest-ever home softball games in SDSU history, but they did battle the cold.
Friday's single game started with temps hovering around 32 degrees, and the Jackrabbit offense came out cold in a 1-0 loss. The wether warmed-up a few degrees for Saturday's doubleheader and SDSU played much better on offense, but six errors sent the Jacks to a 5-4 loss. Things finally started clicking for the Jacks in Game 2, as they earned a split on the day with a convincing 8-0, five inning win.
SDSU returns home on Tuesday, weather permitting, to host North Dakota in a doubleheader in Brookings at 3 p.m., and then returns to league play next weekend with a three game series against IPFW. The series starts with a double header on Friday, followed by a single game on Saturday.
JACKRABBIT SOFTBALL STADIUM ? Located just north of Coughlin Alumni Stadium, the Jackrabbits played their first game in Jackrabbit Softball Stadium on April 20, 2007, and finished their first season on the new field with a 5-6 record.

POSTMAS ?STEAL' THE SHOW ? Senior Brooke Postma stole 14 bases in 14 attempts in 2006, followed that up with an SDSU single-season record 27-for-28 effort in 2007 and then stole 17 more bases in 2008 for an SDSU career record of 58. EVANS WALKS INTO THE RECORD BOOK ? Senior Stacey Evans continues to climb the SDSU all-time charts for walks. She started the season out of the top-10, but enter's the week with 11 walks on the season, 58 for her career, good for fifth all-time and one short of fourth place. Stacey Warner holds the SDSU record with 71 free passes from 1995-98.
MARSTON IN CAREER TOP 10s ? Senior Jenna Marston entered her final year at SDSU ranked in the top-10 in eight different career-pitching categories and on pace to finish first all-time in four of them.
The only Jackrabbit pitcher to start more than 100 games, Marston ranks first all-time at SDSU with 101 starts and with 128 appearances. She enters the week ranked second all-time with 71 complete games, one shy of the record and 26.2 innings shy of taking over the top spot in innings pitched. SDSU ended the Ladies school record 14-game winning streak in sweeping a doubleheader, but dropped the series finale in an eight-inning slugfest that saw Ashley Durazo and Brittany Postma hit their first-career homeruns in the same inning.
South Dakota State Jackrabbits (7-24, 4-2 Summit, 3-8 Away)
The Jackrabbits enter the series with Centenary after dropping two games in a three game series to Southern Utah last weekend, but they did win the series finale in a convincing 8-0, five inning game.
SDSU played the earliest softball home opener in school history on a chilly Friday afternoon at Jackrabbit Softball Stadium, but came out cold in a 1-0 loss to Southern Utah.
Southern Utah's Kristina Brooks gave up just one infield hit to Brooke Postma in the sixth and got just one run of support on an Aly Daniels solo shot to get the 1-0 win.
