South Dakota State kicks-off the second half of the Summit League season this weekend on the road this week with games at Centenary on Thursday and at Oral Roberts on Saturday. The Jackrabbits won the first meetings with both the Gents and Golden Eagles at Frost Arena, and can earn their first-ever Summit League season sweeps with a pair of road wins this weekend.
SDSU returns to the road this week after going 1-1 last weekend at home. The Jacks erased a 14-point deficit to come back and beat IPFW 65-64 last Thursday, but Oakland turned the tables on Saturday, as the Golden Grizzlies erased a 13-point SDSU lead to beat the Jacks 85-82 on Saturday night.
SDSU head coach Scott Nagy garnered national attention last week as he prepared to coach the Oakland game in his bare feet to raise money and awareness for earthquake victims in Haiti, but his dedication to the cause did not end with the game.

SDSU NOTES - Garrett Callahan leads the Jacks overall with 12.2 points per game, and enters the game 20 points shy of cracking the top-10 in all-time scoring at SDSU. Clint Sargent adds 11.3 points per game thanks in large part, to a team-high 89.7 percent free throw percentage. Kai Williams averages 10.2 points per game and leads the Jacks with 5.6 rebounds per game. Michael Palarca scores just 3.2 points per game, but leads the Jacks with 60 assists.
RABBITS ON THE RADIO - All Jackrabbit men's basketball games, home and on the road, can be heard live on AM 570 WNAX, with Steve Imming doing the play-by-play. The pre-game show begins 15 minutes before tip-off. Select Jackrabbit games can also be heard on KRKI, ESPN Radio 99.5 FM in Rapid City.

THE JACKRABBITS AT ORAL ROBERTS LIVE ON FCS - Jackrabbit fans nationwide can watch the SDSU at ORU game live on Fox College Sports. FCS is available in over 40 million households across the country on most major cable systems, as well as DirecTV (Ch. 617). FCS consists of three channels: FCS Atlantic, FCS Central and FCS Pacific. Check with your cable or satellite provider for channels and availability.
Rob Loeber handles the play-by-play duties for the broadcast, with color duties split between former ORU standout Mickey Michalec and longtime analyst Bryndon Manzer.
NAGY RAISING MONEY FOR HATIAN RELIEF EFFORTS - SDSU head coach Scott Nagy teamed-up with Samaritan's Feet, the South Dakota Basketball Coaches Association and high school coaches throughout the state, to raise money and shoes for children all over the world. All of the coaches from the SDBCA agreed to coach a game barefoot between Jan. 14-23, culminating with coach Nagy coaching barefoot at Frost Arena on Jan. 23, against Oakland.

CALLAHAN CLOSING IN ON THE TOP-10 - Garrett Callahan joined the SDSU 1,000 Point Club on Feb. 12, 2009, and continues his climb up the all-time scoring charts. Callahan enters the week ranked 11th all-time with 1,335 points, and needs just 20 more points to crack the top-10 all-time at SDSU.
More than just a scorer, Callahan enters the week with 233 career assists, eight shy of cracking the top-10 at SDSU.
WILLIAMS MAKES HIS MARK - Kai Williams completed an old fashioned three-point play in overtime against Oakland on Jan. 31, 2009, to become the 39th member of the SDSU 1,000-Point Club and the first to score all of his points at the Division I level. Now a senior, Williams enters the week ranked 12th all-time with 1,294 points.
In addition to his climb up the SDSU scoring charts, Williams also rebounded his way into the top-five in career-rebounds. He led the Jacks in rebounding in each of his first three years on the team and enters the week ranked fifth on the all-time list with 765.
SARGENT CLOSES IN ON 1,000 POINTS - Junior Clint Sargent continues to close in on the 1,000 point milestone. His 226 points so far this season gives him 878 career-points, 122 points shy of joining the club.
WOLTERS TIES FREE THROW RECORD - Freshman Nate Wolters tied the SDSU single game free-throw percentage record when he went 12-for-12 from the free throw line in the Jacks win over UMKC last week. Wolters tied the record first set by Jim Sutton in a win over St. Thomas (Minn.) on Dec. 17, 1956 and equaled by Garrett Callahan in a win over Southern Utah on Feb. 12, 2009.
THIS WEEK'S OPPONENTS
Centenary Gents (7-13, 2-7 Summit, 5-5 Home) - The Gents snapped a three-game losing streak last week with a 108-65 win over NAIA foe Southwestern Assemblies of God University, but responded with an 87-56 home loss to Oral Roberts in their only Summit League game of the week.
David Perez takes the majority of shots for Centenary and leads the team with 16.9 points per game. Roman Tubner adds 11.1 points per game, while Daman Starring adds 10.7 points and a team-high 55 assists. Jerrald Bonham averages 8.8 points and leads the Gents with 5.0 rebounds per game.
The Series vs. Centenary - The Gents lead the all-time series 3-2. Centenary swept the season series in 2007-08 and each team won on its home floor in 2008-09.
The First Meeting vs. Centenary (1/2/10) - Dale Moss led the Jacks to a convincing 89-59 win in the Lamb Bonanza at Frost Arena with 14 points. Kai Williams added 13 points and Clint Sargent 11 points in the win, while Anthony Cordova scored 10 points and led the Jacks with nine rebounds.
Roman Tubner scored a game-high 22 points to lead the Gents, Pedro Maciel added 11 points in a losing effort.
Oral Roberts Golden Eagles (11-10, 6-3 Summit, 6-2 Home) - The Golden Eagles, who host North Dakota Stat on Thursday before playing the Jackrabbits on Saturday, split a pair of games last week. ORU opened the week with a home loss to intercity rival Tulsa, 57-52, but bounced back with an 87-56 win at Centenary on Saturday in Shreveport, La.
Dominique Morrison leads four Golden Eagles averaging in double figures with 15 points per game and leads the team with 60 assists. Michael Craion adds 12.6 points and 7.4 rebounds per game, while Kevin Ford averages 12.1 points and a team-high 7.9 rebounds per game. Warren Niles adds 11.3 points per game, mostly off the bench.
The Series vs. Oral Roberts - The Golden Eagles lead the all-time series 4-3, but the Jackrabbits won each of the last two meetings, including a win in the first round of The Summit League Championships last year, and a 72-72 win at Frost Arena earlier this season.
The first SDSU win in the series came in the first meeting on Jan. 24, 1968, when the Jacks won 92-83 in the Barn.
The First Meeting vs. Oral Roberts (12/31/09) - Clint Sargent went 6-of-7 from the field and scored 19 points to lead the Jacks to a come-from-behind win over Oral Roberts on New Year's Eve. Nate Wolters added 14 points and Garrett Callahan 12 points in the win.
SDSU won the rebounding battle 47-29, including a 20-10 edge on the offensive glass, 10 rebounds came from Kai Williams, who became the first Jackrabbit to grab double-digit rebounds this seasons
NEXT UP FOR THE JACKRABBITS - The Jackrabbits return home next week to start a season-long three-game homestand, starting Thursday with Southern Utah on Military Appreciation Night. UMKC comes to town for the Pork Classic on Saturday, before North Dakota State comes in on Feb. 13, to complete the homestand.
