Just three days after getting back to Brookings from Athens, Ga., South Dakota State returns to the state of Georgia this week for three games in Macon, Ga., at the CBE Classic.
The Jackrabbits open the week against Niagara on Monday at 4:30 p.m. ET, and then play Sam Houston State on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. ET, before wrapping up the week against host Mercer on Wednesday at 7 p.m. ET.
Playing its first-ever game in the state of Georgia on Wednesday, SDSU hung tough against Georgia, and led by as many as seven points in the second half, but the Bulldogs kept pounding and eventually took a lead they would not relinquish in a 72-61 win over the Jackrabbits.
Nate Wolters led a trio of Jackrabbits in double figures with 15 points, Taévaunn Prince added 13 points, all in the first half, and led the team with nine rebounds. Chad White pitched in with 10 points in the loss, all of them in the second half.
Donte' Williams led four Bulldogs in double figures with 17 points, Gerald Robinson added 15, while both Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Nemanja Djurisic both finished with 14 points. Marcus Thornton added seven points and led Georgia with a game-high 10 rebounds.
The Jacks went on an 8-0 run to go up 17-13 with 7:06 left in the first half, only to see Georgia fight back to take a 20-19 lead as both teams heated up late in the half before going to the break tied at 29.
The Jackrabbits opened the second half on a 9-2 run to take their second seven point lead of the game, but Georgia turned a pair of SDSU turnovers into five points and then used a couple of three-pointers to take a 43-40 lead with 14:10 to play in the game.
Georgia would extend that lead to as many as eight points before the Jacks could cut it to three, but the Bulldogs kept pushing and slowly extending its lead.

WOLTERS CLOSES IN ON 1,000-POINT MILESTONE - Junior Nate Wolters set the sophomore scoring record last season with 604 points. Add that to his 303 points as a freshman, and the standout point guard entered the 2011-12 season needing just 97 points to become the 42nd member of the SDSU 1,000-Point Club. His 67 points through three games gives him 974 for his career and leaves him 26 shy of joining the club.
WOLTERS CHASES SCORING RECORD - Nate Wolters scored 303 points as a freshman, and then set the SDSU sophomore scoring record with 604 points. Double his two-year point total of 907 points, and it does not appear that he enters his junior season on pace to break the all-time SDSU scoring record of 1,931 points, but if he can average 512 points per season over his last two years, the record, set by Mark Tetzlaff from 1981-85, would indeed fall.
WOLTERS DRAWS NATIONAL ATTENTION - Following a sophomore season that saw Nate Wolters garner numerous postseason awards after shattering the SDSU sophomore scoring record with 604 points, and after leading the Jackrabbits with 19.5 points per game and the league with 6.1 assists per game, a number of different media outlets took notice:

NAGY NEARS MILESTONE WIN - Already the most prolific coach in SDSU history, Jackrabbit head coach Scott Nagy entered the 2011-12 season with 289 wins, just 11 shy of reaching the 300-win milestone. A win in the Jacks opener leaves Nagy 10 wins shy of the milestone.
