South Dakota State's season-long eight game road trip continues this weekend with the sixth straight game on the road as the Nebraska Cornhuskers play host to the Jackrabbits at the Bob Devaney Sports Center on Saturday at 1 p.m.
The Jacks head to Lincoln fresh off three wins at the CBE Classic Macon Sub-regional, where the Jacks opened with a 79-71 win over Niagara on Monday, followed by a 77-60 win over Sam Houston State on Tuesday before closing out the week with a 74-61 win over the host Mercer Bears in the toughest test of the three games on Wednesday in Macon, Ga.
Nate Wolters led all-scorers with 16 points and with eight assists in the win, and took home tournament MVP honors in the process. Griffan Callahan added 13 points and a game-high eight rebounds, earning him a selection to the all-tournament team.
Taévaunn Prince scored 12 points, and Chad White 11 points, including a clutch three-pointer that put the Jacks up by 10 points, with just over a minute to play.
SDSU made its first four shots of the game, but missed the next five, until Zach Horstman broke the slump with a three-pointer to put the Jacks up 12-9 with 10:38 left in the first half.
The Jacks would lead by as many as seven points in the opening half, but Mercer used a 10-0 run to regain the first half lead, and led by as many as eight points in the first half before taking a 34-31 lead over the Jackrabbits to halftime.
South Dakota State opened the second half on an 8-0 run to take a lead that lasted until the 6:02 mark, when the Bears retook the lead at 56-55. The Jacks got the lead back at 57-56 on a Wolters runner off the window with 4:25 on the clock, and never trailed again, steadily increasing their lead until White iced the win with his triple from the right wing.

WOLTERS JOINS THE 1,000-POINT CLUB - Junior Nate Wolters set the sophomore scoring record last season with 604 points. Add that to his 303 points as a freshman, and the standout point guard entered the 2011-12 season needing just 97 points to become the 42nd member of the SDSU 1,000-Point Club, which he accomplished in the Jacks win over Sam Houston State on Nov. 22. Wolters enters the week ranked 35th all-time at SDSU with 1,031 career points, 13 points shy of moving up two spots to 33rd all-time.
WOLTERS CHASES SCORING RECORD - Nate Wolters scored 303 points as a freshman, and then set the SDSU sophomore scoring record with 604 points. Double his two-year point total of 907 points, and it does not appear that he enters his junior season on pace to break the all-time SDSU scoring record of 1,931 points, but if he can average 512 points per season over his last two years, the record, set by Mark Tetzlaff from 1981-85, would indeed fall.
WOLTERS DRAWS NATIONAL ATTENTION - Following a sophomore season that saw Nate Wolters garner numerous postseason awards after shattering the SDSU sophomore scoring record with 604 points, and after leading the Jackrabbits with 19.5 points per game and the league with 6.1 assists per game, a number of different media outlets took notice:

WOLTERS AND CALLAHAN EARN CBE CLASSIC HONORS - Nate Wolters averaged 19 points per game and dished out 14 assists in leading the Jackrabbits to three wins at the CBE Classic Macon Sub-regional last week, all of which earned him MVP honors at the event. Senior Griffan Callahan averaged 15.7 points and led the Jacks with 6.7 rebounds per game to earn all-tournament team honors.
NAGY NEARS MILESTONE WIN - Already the most prolific coach in SDSU history, Jackrabbit head coach Scott Nagy entered the 2011-12 season with 289 wins, just 11 shy of reaching the 300-win milestone. His four wins this season give him 293 for his career, seven wins shy of the milestone.
THIS WEEK'S OPPONENT
Nebraska Cornhuskers (3-1, 2-1 Home) - Nebraska opened the season at home against Jackrabbit foe South Dakota, and sent the visiting Coyotes home with a 65-48 loss.
A 64-61 double overtime win at USC in their only road game to date came up next, before the Huskers came home to roll Rhode Island 83-63.
The lone Nebraska loss of the season came at home on Wednesday, when the Huskers dropped an 83-76 game against Oregon.
Bo Spencer leads four Cornhuskers averaging double-digit points this season with 15.5 points per game. Jorge Brian Diaz averages 12.8 points and adds 5.3 rebounds per game. Dylan Talley averages 12.5 points and leads the team with 5.5 rebounds per game, while Caleb Walker rounds out the double-digit scorers with 10.5 points per game.
The Series vs. Nebraska - The Huskers lead the all-time series 11-0, with all of the games played in Lincoln, Neb. The Huskers won the first meeting 36-25 on Dec. 20, 1928, and won the last meeting 76-67 on Dec. 8, 2005.
The Last Meeting: at Nebraska, 12/8/05 - Nebraska improved to 6-1 with a 76-67 victory over South Dakota State at the Devaney Center.
The Jackrabbits, who fell to 1-7 on the season, led 8-4 at the 12-minute mark, before the Cornhuskers pulled out to an 18-10 lead.
After trailing 34-26 at halftime, the Jacks pulled within 36-33 when Mohamed Berté sandwiched a pair of baskets around a three-pointer by Ben Beran. Then the Jacks made it interesting again when Eric Heien hit back-to-back threes to make it 66-59 with four minutes left.
Five players scored in double figures for the Jacks, led by Berté who hit all seven of his field goal attempts for 14 points to go with nine rebounds. Beran added 13-points and 12-rebounds to complete the double-double. Heien, in his second start for the Jacks, hit four three-point shots and finished with 12 points while Matt Cadwell and Michael Loney each scored 11. Cadwell also added eight rebounds, seven assists and two steals.
Wes Wilkinson led Nebraska with 17 while Jason Dourisseau and Joe McCray scored 12 points each, with Marcus Walker getting 11.
NEXT UP FOR THE JACKRABBITS - The Jackrabbits play their final two games in an eight game road trip and open Summit League play next week with games at IUPUI on Thursday against IUPUI at 7 p.m. ET, and then close the road trip on Saturday at Western Illinois at 7 p.m.
