Off to its first-ever 4-0 start in Summit League play, South Dakota State returns to the road this week looking to boost that mark to 6-0 with league games at Southern Utah on Thursday at 7 p.m. MT, and at preseason favorite Oral Roberts on Saturday at 7 p.m.
With Southern Utah leaving for the Big Sky Conference next year and Oral Roberts leaving for the Southland Conference at the end of the season, these games mark the final road games in league play at both schools for the Jackrabbits.
Winners of eight of their last nine games, the Jackrabbits hit the road after a pair of league home wins last week over IPFW and Oakland.
Five South Dakota State players scored in double figures to pave the way for the win over IPFW, which marked the 300th career win for head coach Scott Nagy.
Chad White led the Jacks with 18 points in the win, grabbing six rebounds and dishing out a career-high seven assists in the process. Both Nate Wolters and Brayden Carlson finished with 17 points, which marked a temporary career-high for Carlson. Wolters added four each in rebounds and assists, all without a turnover. Tony Fiegen added 12 points and six rebounds, while Griffan Callahan rounded out the double-digit scorers with 10 points.
SDSU fell into an early 15-5 hole just seven minutes into Friday's game with Oakland, but the Jackrabbits answered with a 16-2 run to take 21-17 lead and never trailed again in a 76-64 win over the Golden Grizzlies.
A pair of Jordan Dykstra three-pointers highlighted the run for the Jackrabbits, as the sophomore scored eight of the 16 points in the run.
The Jacks would push the lead to as many as nine points in the first half, only to see Oakland cut the deficit to just two points at halftime.
Two Carlson three-pointers to start the second half put the Jacks up by eight, and Oakland did not get any closer than four points the rest of the game.
Wolters led the balanced Jackrabbit offense with 19 points and added seven assists. Carlson, who scored a career-high 17 in Wednesday's win over IPFW, topped that mark with 18 in the win over Oakland with a 6-for-6 night from the floor, that includes a perfect 4-for-4 mark from long range. Carlson also set a career-high with 40 minutes played and tied a career-mark with five steals.
Dykstra finished with 17 and Fiegen added 10 points in the win.

JACKS RANKED IN MID-MAJOR TOP-25 - After receiving votes for several weeks, South Dakota State cracked the collegeinsider.com Mid Major Top-25 for the first time this season at No. 25 on Dec. 19. The Jacks moved up to No. 23 in the poll released on Dec. 26, and moved up to No. 21 in the latest poll released on Jan. 2, 2012.
WOLTERS CLIMBS THE 1,000-POINT CLUB LADDER - Junior Nate Wolters became the 42nd member of the SDSU 1,000-Point Club in the Jacks win over Sam Houston State on Nov. 22, and instantly began the climb up the all time list. Wolters enters the week with 1,223 career points, good for 19th all-time at SDSU and 37 points shy of moving up to 18th on the list.
WOLTERS CHASES SCORING RECORD - Nate Wolters scored 907 points in his first two years as a Jackrabbit, including the SDSU sophomore record with 604 points. Double that two-year point total, and it does not appear that he entered his junior season on pace to break the all-time SDSU scoring record of 1,931 points, but if he averages 512 points per season over his last two years, the record, set by Mark Tetzlaff from 1981-85, would indeed fall.
NAGY NOTCHES 300th CAREER WIN - Already the most prolific coach in SDSU history, head coach Scott Nagy entered the 2011-12 season with 289 wins, just 11 shy of reaching the 300-win milestone, which he reached in the Jackrabbits 94-58 win over IPFW on Dec. 28.
NAGY TEAMS WITH SAMARITANS FEET - Head coach Scott Nagy teamed up with Samaritan's Feet in each of the last three seasons to raise money and shoes for children around the world, including Haiti, and the cause really hits home for Nagy and his family, especially after a major earthquake shook the country on Jan. 12, 2010.
"My wife Jamie and I adopted our daughter Naika from Haiti, so we've seen first-hand the need for shoes there," Nagy said.
Nagy raised over $6,000 for the relief efforts in Haiti after the devastating 2010 earthquake, and then took it to another level last season, when the entire Jackrabbit coaching staff coached in their bare feet against IPFW on Jan. 22, to raise money for shoes and shelters in Zimbabwe.
Nagy makes it four years in a row this season when he coaches barefoot on Jan. 14, when the Jacks host UMKC in Frost Arena.

THIS WEEK'S OPPONENTS
Southern Utah Thunderbirds (7-7, 2-2 Summit, 3-1 Home) - Southern Utah returns home after a 79-58 loss at IPFW on Tuesday night in Fort Wayne, Ind., a loss that snapped a season-long three game winning streak that included a non-conference over UC-Davis and Summit League wins at South Dakota in overtime and at UMKC.
Before their three-game winning streak, the Thunderbirds dropped four in a row, including their first league game of the season at Oral Roberts on Dec. 3.
Jackson Stevenett leads four T-birds averaging more than 10 points with 13.3 points per game, and adds 4.9 rebounds per game with a team-high nine blocks. Ramell Taylor averages 12.9 points and leads the team with 5.1 rebounds per game. Matt Massey scores and even 11 points and Damon Heuir 10.9 points per game for the T-birds. Ray Jones, Jr., averages 8.9 points and 4.4 rebounds per game and leads the team with 79 assists
The Series vs. Southern Utah - The Jackrabbits lead the all-time series 6-2 after sweeping the season series in each of the last two years. The Jacks and T-birds split the first four meetings in the series, with each team winning on its home floor.
The Last Meeting: Jan. 29, 2011, Frost Arena - Clint Sargent scored 22 points to move into the top-10 in career scoring at South Dakota State and led three Jackrabbits with at least 20 points in a convincing 96-79 win over Southern Utah in the 39th Annual Pork Classic.
In addition to Sargent's 22, the Jacks got 21 points and eight assists from Nate Wolters and 20 points from Jordan Dykstra, while Dale Moss pitched in with 13 points and a game-high nine rebounds.
Ryan Brimley led four T-birds in double figures with 23 points. Damon Heuir added 18, Matt Massey 14 and Jackson Stevenett 12 points in the loss.
After playing close early, the Jacks took a 17-9 lead with 14:55 left in the first half and never led SUU get within eight points the rest of the game.
Oral Roberts Golden Eagles (12-4, 4-0 Summit, 6-0 Home) - Perfect at home this season, the preseason favorite Golden Eagles host North Dakota State on Thursday looking for their sixth straight win, which would equal a season-high six game winning streak. The most recent streak includes a trio of Summit League road wins at UMKC, South Dakota and Oakland, and includes wins over a ranked Xavier team on the road and a home win over Texas Tech out of the Big 12.
Dominique Morrison leads a balanced ORU team with 18.4 points per game and adds 4.4 rebounds per game. Warren NIles adds 11.1 points and 3.5 rebounds per game, while Steven Roundtree and Michael Craion average 10.8 and 10.7 points respectively. Roundtree adds 5.9 rebounds per game, while Craion enters the week averaging a team-high 6.9 rebounds per game.
The Series vs. Oral Roberts - The Golden Eagles lead the all-time series 7-3 after sweeping the season series in 2010-11. The Jacks won two straight in the series including a 72-69 overtime win at The Summit League Championships on March 7, 2009 and a 72-70 win at Frost Arena on Dec. 31, 2009.
The only other Jackrabbit win in the series came in the first meeting of the series on Jan. 24, 1968, when the Jackrabbits won a 92-83 game in Brookings.
The Last Meeting: Feb. 3, 2011, Tulsa, Okla. - SDSU got 18 points from Nate Wolters and Dale Moss tied a season-high with 17 points, but Oral Roberts held Clint Sargent to eight and Jordan Dykstra to just four points in a 77-73 Golden Eagles win.
Dominique Morrison led a trio of ORU players in double figures with 22 points. Steven Roundtree and Damen Bell-Holter both scored 18 points and both posted double-doubles, with 10 rebounds for Roundtree and a game-high 15 for Bell-Holter.
The lead changed hands four times in the final five and a half minutes of the first half, but a Wolters bucket with three seconds left in the half gave SDSU a 42-38 lead at halftime.
The back and forth play continued into the second half, which featured nine more ties and seven more lead changes. It looked like the Golden Eagles put the game away when they went up 72-65 with 4:31 left to play, but an 8-0 SDSU put the Jacks up 73-72 with two minutes to play.
The Jacks did not score again after that, while the Golden Eagles tossed in a pair of free throws to take the lead for good and notched three more second chance points for the final 77-73 margin.
NEXT UP FOR THE JACKRABBITS - The Jackrabbits return next week to host South Dakota on Thursday at 7 p.m., for the 204th game in the series, but for the first time since March 5, 2004, when the two met in Omaha, Neb., at the North Central Conference Tournament. The Jacks then face UMKC on Saturday in the Lamb Bonanza in the second game of a doubleheader at 7:30 p.m.
