South Dakota State looks to rebound from a season-opening 69-76 loss on Friday night at Buffalo with a win on Monday in Moscow, Idaho, where the Jacks and Idaho Vandals clash at 7 p.m. PT, 9 p.m. CT.
The Jackrabbits flew over the snowy Midwest on Saturday on their way to Moscow, Idaho, via Spokane, Wash., to play the Vandals for the first time since Dec. 15, 2007, when the Jacks completed a season sweep at Frost Arena.
The Jacks and Vandals also played a home-and-home during the 2006-07 season, with Idaho winning both games. The two teams last met in Idaho on Nov. 28, 2007, a 76-58 SDSU win.
THE JACKRABBITS (0-1, 0-1 Away)
Both Jackrabbit seniors posted a double-double and grabbed career-high rebounds, but SDSU still came up short in a 69-67 loss at Buffalo in both team's 2014-15 season opener.
Cody Larson finished with 15 points and 15 rebounds, while Zach Horstman scored 13 points to go with his 12 rebounds, two of four Jackrabbits to score in double figures in the game. Those same four players also combined to go 11 for 21 from the free throw line, part of the team's 14 for 29 night at the charity stripe.
“I thought the effort was good, but the execution was awful. We've had a lot of practice, and our execution should be a lot better than it was,” head coach Scott Nagy said. “We played good enough defense, but it's hard to overcome 15 missed free throws. Really, it doesn't matter what you say, if you miss 15 free throws, then you don't deserve to win.”
Jake Bittle led the Jackrabbits with 16 points in the loss, with Skyler Flatten joining him, Larson and Horstman in double figures with 11 points in his Jackrabbit debut.

IDAHO VANDALS (1-0, 1-0 Home): Idaho returns to the Big Sky Conference this season after a 20-year stint in the WAC, and enter the season picked to finish seventh in the 12-team league after finishing in a tie for fifth in its final season in the WAC, when they advanced to the conference tournament finals, where they lost to New Mexico State.
