The Jackrabbits return home with a perfect 2-0 mark at home and with a 2-3 overall record after dropping a neutral site game on Sunday in Sioux Falls at the Sanford Pentagon, falling to the FGCU Eagles by a score of 71-58 in front of a sold out crowd of 3,250 fans.
Playing their first-ever game at the Pentagon, and their first regular season game in Sioux Falls since the 2005-06 season, the Jackrabbits led for the majority of the first half before going into the locker room tied at 31.
The Eagles came out hot in the second half, opening the stanza on a 10-0 run, and never trailed again.
Deondre Parks led all players in the game with 18 points. Cody Larson finished with 14 points and tied for game-high honors with 10 rebounds for his third double-double of the season.
Junior transfer Keaton Moffitt, a Sioux Falls native, made his first-ever start for the Jackrabbits in the game, and finished with four points, five rebounds and a team-high three assists in 32 minutes.
TONIGHT'S OPPONENT
WAYNE STATE WILDCATS (2-4, 0-1 Away): Picked to finish 15th in the 16-team Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, the outlook for this season may not look promising, but the future looks bright for the Wildcats, because they entered the season with eight freshman and one sophomore on the roster.
Six of the eight freshmen saw playing time in the first six games of the season, with three of them, along with the team's lone sophomore, being regular starters for the young squad.
The Wildcats opened the season with a pair of losses at the NSIC/GAC Crossover in Bartlesville, Okla., falling to Arkansas Tech by a 69-62 score in the opener and dropping an 80-77 contest to East Central (Okla.) in the second game of the season. They notched their first win by beating Iowa Wesleyan at home by an 83-63 score, then followed that up with an 89-71 loss at Augustana.
The Wildcats split a pair of games last weekend at the Southwest Minnesota State Thanksgiving Classic; downing Northern Michigan 70-63 on Friday, before falling to Michigan Tech by a 75-56 score on Saturday.
