The Jacks played the first of two straight at home on Wednesday against Wayne State, and cruised to an 89-55 win over the Wildcats, marking the seventh straight home win for the Jackrabbits, which gives them an even 3-3 record on the season.
The Jacks opened the game on a 10-2 run and then put the game away in the first 10 minutes of the second half, using a 21-5 run over an eight-minute span that ended with the Jacks leading 63-34.
Cody Larson led the Jackrabbits with 16 points in the win, followed closely by Deondre Parks with 14. Larson also added a team-high six rebounds. Reed Tellinghuisen scored a career-high 10 points, while Anders Broman finished with eight points and a career-high four rebounds.
Jordan Cornelius Led the visitors with 10 points, with Kendall Jacks adding nine and Patrick Kuth eight points. The Wildcats also got six points from Tyler Nagy, who returned home to play his dad's Jackrabbits for the first time, also a first for the elder Nagy.
TODAY'S OPPONENT
KANSAS CITY KANGAROOS (3-5, 1-4 Away): The Kangaroos opened the season with a 69-61 win at in-state foe Missouri, but enter tonight's game still in search of another win over a Division I opponent in five tries. UMKC did post wins over Division II schools Missouri S&T and William Jewell to go along with losses to Kansas State, UALR, Samford, Youngstown State and Milwaukee, which downed the 'Roos 65-56 on Wednesday night in Milwaukee.
Now in its second season in the WAC, UMKC posted a 10-20 record last year under first-year head coach Kareem Richardson and a 7-9 mark in conference play, good for a tie for fifth place.
The 2014-15 WAC Preseason Poll tabbed the Kangaroos to finish fifth again in the six-team league.
THE SERIES VS. KANSAS CITY
The Jackrabbits lead the all-time series 11-5, with wins in nine of the last 10 meetings, including a 65-60 win in Kansas City last season on Dec. 28. SDSU won an 88-57 contest in the last meeting in Frost Arena on Feb. 2, 2013.
