CONWAY, Ark. – The South Dakota State softball team capped a perfect weekend with a 6-2 win over Central Arkansas on Sunday at the Central Arkansas Invitational, giving the Jackrabbits their first four game winning streak since late in the 2010 season.
The Jackrabbits improve to 5-8 with the win, while the host Bears fall to 4-10.
Emily Weber led the Jackrabbits with a 2 for 2 day at the plate, with a walk, double, RBI and a run scored. Allison Huffman went 2 for 4, also with a double and two RBI.
Jennifer Sutton earned the win in the circle to even her record at 2-2. She pitched all seven innings, giving up two runs on eight hits, with three walks and a pair of strikeouts.
The Jackrabbits broke a scoreless tie with three runs in the top of the third inning, and then added one run in the fourth and two more in the fifth to take a commanding 6-0 lead.
The Bears pushed two runs across in the bottom of the seventh, but Sutton put to rest any hopes of a comeback with two runners on base.
The Jackrabbits look to make it five wins in a row next weekend against Evansville, the first of four games at the Evansville Tournament in Evansville, Ind.
