Huskies Await Jackrabbits in Cancun

CANCUN, Mexico – Off to its best start since the 2010-11 season when they started 6-0, South Dakota State looks to make it a 5-0 start on Tuesday, when the Jackrabbits take on the Houston Baptist Huskies at the Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya in Cancun, Mexico in the Cancun Challenge.
SDSU won the first two stateside games in the tournament, downing Illinois State, 83-67, last Thursday in Normal, Ill., and winning 76-67 at TCU on Saturday. Both games marked the first meeting between the two teams.
The Jacks continue to get balance scoring, as at least four Jackrabbits reached double figure scoring in all four games, with five reaching the mark at home against Weber State and at Illinois State.
THE OPPONENT
HOUSTON BAPTIST HUSKIES (2-0, 2-0 Home): Picked to finish ninth out of 13 teams in both the coaches and SID Southland Conference Preseason Polls, the Huskies finished tied for eighth in the conference last year with a 7-11 record to go along with a 12-16 overall record.
HBU started the season with a 91-69 loss at New Mexico State, but rebounded with a 102-62 home win over Crowley's Ridge College, a National Christian College Athletic Association school out of Arkansas. The Huskies other two losses both came in the stateside games of the Cancun Challenge, falling 90-63 at TCU on Nov. 19, and 72-56 at Illinois State on Nov. 21.
