Commodores Host Jacks in NIT Second Round

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – South Dakota State quickly overcame the disappointment of not earning an NCAA Tournament bid, and used that as motivation in an 86-76 win over No. 1 seed Colorado State in the first round of the NIT on Wednesday for the program's first-ever Division I postseason win.
The win sends the No. 8 seed Jackrabbits to Nashville, Tenn., for a game against No. 5 seed Vanderbilt on Friday at 8:30 p.m., and can be seen live on ESPNU. Fans can also listen to the game live on the jackrabbit Sports Network or on the Jackrabbit Extra on GoJacks.com for free.
The Commodores (20-13) advanced the second round of the tournament with a 75-64 win at St. Mary's (Calif.) on Wednesday in Moraga, Calif.,
The Jackrabbits (24-10) won their last two postseason games in the state of Colorado, with the final Division II postseason win coming over Northern State at the Division II North Central Regional on March 13, 2004 in Denver, and the first Division I postseason win coming on Wednesday at Colorado State.
THE OPPONENT
VANDERBILT COMMODORES (20-13, 14-4 Home): The Commodores finished the regular season with an even 9-9 mark in the Southeastern Conference and then bowed out of the conference tournament after just one game.
Vanderbilt still earned a No. 5 seed in the NIT, and bounced back from the conference tournament loss with a 75-64 win over St. Mary's (Calif.) in the first round of the NIT on Wednesday in California.
