FARGO, N.D. – A day after the South Dakota State softball team won its first-ever game at The Summit League Tournament, the Jackrabbits fell into the loser's bracket with a 16-0, 5 inning loss to No. 1 seed and defending champion North Dakota State on Friday in the semifinals.
The loss drops the Jacks to 23-28 on the season sends them into an elimination game against either No. 2 seed South Dakota or No. 3 seed IUPUI on Friday at 5 p.m., as the Coyotes and Jaguars clash at 2:30 p.m. The Bison improve to 41-9, and play the winner of the South Dakota/IUPUI game on Saturday at noon.
The Jacks loaded the bases in the first inning, but stranded all three runners, only to see the hosts score three in the bottom of the first, and then break the game open with 10 runs in the second to take a commanding 13-0 lead.
SDSU looks to regroup and bounce back in the elimination game on Friday evening at approximately 5 p.m.
