CLEARWATER, Florida – The South Dakota State softball team recorded wins of 8-2 and 10-0 over St. Bonaventure Tuesday at the EC Moore Complex.
The Jackrabbits improved to 7-12 with the wins.
"I thought we had a great team effort today and that led to some great all-around performances," second-year head coach
Krista Wood said. "I was proud of how everyone came ready to play and contributed to the wins."
On the day, sophomore first baseman
Ali Herdliska drove in six runs and recorded five hits. In the opener, she delivered a run-scoring triple in the first inning to give the Jackrabbits an early 1-0 lead.
Herdliska added a two-run single in the fourth frame as State built a 6-1 lead. Sophomore outfielders
Julia Andersen and
Lyndsey Crist each recorded two hits.
Senior
Ashlyn Bender scattered seven hits to pick up the complete-game win.
In the nightcap, Herliska added a three-run triple in the second inning as the Jacks rolled to the six-inning win. Junior catcher
Danielle Steffo was perfect in game two, going 4 for 4 with four RBI. She drove in two runs in the first inning with a double to center and later added a RBI single in the fourth inning before driving in another run with a double in the sixth.
Sophomore
Erin Mullen added two hits and freshman
Abby Deane picked up the win throwing a one-hitter with 13 strikeouts.
