Beth (Anderson) Kaspar was a trail-blazing student-athlete at South Dakota State University in the late 1970s. The first female collegiate swimmer from SDSU and the state of South Dakota to earn All-America honors, she earned AIAW All-America distinction in four different events: the 50-, 100- and 200-yard butterfly in 1977 and the 100-yard freestyle in 1978, while also setting numerous school records both individually and as a member of relay teams.
She was recognized as one of the top 50 female student-athletes during SDSU's 50 Years of Women's Athletics celebration during the 2015-16 school year.
The Brookings native graduated with a degree in electrical engineering, while also being active in ROTC and the Arnold Air Society. Following graduation, Kaspar went on to a distinguished career in the military.
