The Jackrabbit men's basketball program will have a familiar face step into a new role for the 2018-19 season, as head coach
T.J. Otzelberger announced Tuesday that
Reed Tellinghuisen will serve as the team's graduate assistant coach for the upcoming campaign.
Â
"We're thrilled to have Reed join our staff after four successful years as a Jackrabbit," Otzelberger said. "His knowledge of the program and his well-known work ethic will be a tremendous benefit to our team."
Â
Tellinghuisen graduated in May 2018 after a four-year career where he started more games and made and attempted more 3-pointers than any Jackrabbit in history. The Sac City, Iowa native is tied for the school-record in career games played and closed his time at SDSU sitting 11th on the school's all-time scoring chart as the part of the winningest class in the Jackrabbits' Division I history, making three consecutive NCAA Tournaments.
Â
"I'm excited for this opportunity at South Dakota State," Tellinghuisen said. "I'm looking forward to learning from Coach Otzelberger and the rest of the staff as I begin my coaching career."
Â
He earned his bachelor of science in exercise science from South Dakota State University in 2018, and will be pursuing his masters in sport and recreation administration. Â
