Seniors Kyle Burdick and Jordan Hanna added their names to South Dakota State's record books at the SDSU DII Invitational on Friday night. Burdick posted his first career 1,000m attempt (won, 2:25.08) and reset the record previously held by Nick Burrow since 2001 (2:26.47) while also adding his name to the SDSU DII meet record (previous: 2:28.20 in 2018) and the Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex facility record (previous: 2:27.20 in 2015).

Hanna, who finished runner-up behind Burdick (2:28.31), wrote his name into the No. 6 all-time mark for State. The school's 1,000m top 10 list had not been touched since 2011 and the top-three all-time had not been touched since 2005 prior to Friday evening.

Freshman Ellie Friesen wrote her own mark on the school's top 10 list in the women's 1,000m - winning the race on Friday (2:57.51) and becoming the fifth-fastest time all-time at SDSU. In her short indoor career so far, she has competed in three events and won two of them.

The first school record of the night was in the women's 600m when sophomore Oksana Covey (won, 1:32.38) reset her own record from 2017 (1:32.53) by trimming 0.15 seconds off and winning her second career 600m race out of three attempts. Covey also reset the SDSU DII meet best that was previously owned by fellow teammate Krista Steele since 2017 (1:34.27).

With the limited number of Jackrabbits competing, SDSU still had four event winners (two men, two women) and eight personal-best marks reset or tied (three men, five women) with three school records reset (one men, two women) and another two top-10 marks added (one men, one women).

The women's shot put contributed to three of the SDSU personal-best marks reset - all of them being freshmen. Junior Micayla TerWee (second, 45-03.50) added her sixth career indoor shot put top-three finish while freshmen Caitlin Thilges (ninth, 42-01.50) unattached Alex Schmidt (11th, 41-09.75) and Meghan Hettinga (13th, 41-03.00) posted the PR's.

Sophomore Noah Huber (Shot Put: won, 52-10.75) added his second consecutive win - career win No. 2 - in the indoor shot while senior Abby Sudbeck notched a top-three finish in the weight throw (third, 58-00.25). She now sits atop the Jackrabbit season performance list with the 2-04.75-foot increase.

Senior Rachel Propst (800m: second, 2:21.87) added a personal-best mark in the 800m, trimming 4.56 seconds off her previous-best set at the SDSU Holiday Invite in December. She won her section (2) and finished runner-up overall.

JACK JOHNSON CLASSIC (Jan. 25-26)
The Jackrabbit will travel to Minnesota for the Jack Johnson Classic instead of going to the Mark Messersmith Invitational at Northern Iowa. The tentative schedule for the Jack Johnson Classic can be found here.

South Dakota State will be hosting The Summit League Indoor Championships in the Sanford-Athletic Complex on Feb. 22 and 23.

Sophomore Josh Goehring added his season-best mark in the 400m - trimming 1.29 seconds off his mark set last weekend at the UND vs. SDSU Dual. Junior Wyatt Gatrost ended up winning his section (3) of the 400m, 15th overall, for his first 400m mark of his career.

Senior Krista Steele added her first 400m of the season, second indoor 400m of her career. She finished runner-up of her section (2) while freshman Nichloe Sample won her section (5) to place 24th overall in her first career 400m as a Jackrabbit.

Sophomore Oksana Covey notched a school and SDSU DII meet record in the 600m - trimming 0.15 seconds off her personal-best that was the school record since 2017. She also broke the SDSU DII meet record previous set be senior Krista Steele in 2017 (1:34.27). It was also Covey's second career win out of three 600m races. Freshman Jessica Christoffer added her first career race as a Jackrabbit.

Freshmen duo Riley Bauer and Thomas Breuckman finished fifth and sixth in the 800m - with Bauer trimming 2.65 seconds off his personal-best previously set at the SDSU Holiday Invite. Breuckman added his first career 800m mark, winning his section (2).

Seniors Kyle Burdick and Jordan Hanna added their names to the school's top 10 list in the 1,000m. Burdick resets the 2001 record of 2:26.47 set by Nick Burrow and resets the SDSU DII (2018 - 2:28.20) and Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex (2015 - 2:27.20) records. Hanna - trimming his previous-best by 5.89 seconds - entered the list at No. 6 all-time behind the likes of Brad Lowery (2005, 2:26.50) and head coach Rod DeHaven (1985, 2:27.26). The school's 1,000m top 10 list had not been touched since 2011 and the top-three all-time had not been touched since 2005.

Freshman Ellie Friesen added her first career 1,000m mark, cracking the school's top 10 list at No. 5 all-time. She won her second career event out of three total races ran in her early career.

Sophomore Evan Fick notched a season-best mark, cutting 1.25 seconds from his mark at the UND vs. SDSU Dual. Freshman Blake Iverson and unattached freshman Andrew Rush added their first career marks as Jackrabbits.

Junior Emma Nelson posted her first mark in the mile while freshman Tori Glazier notched her first career mile mark in the Blue and Yellow. Nelson's sixth-place finish is a personal-best place-finish while being 7.68 seconds from her personal-best mark set in the 2018 season.

Sophomore Noah Huber added his second consecutive win in the shot put - his second of his career indoors - while unattached freshman Dominick Etherington added his first career mark in the event as a Jack.

The freshman trio of Caitlin Thilges, unattached Alexis Schmidt, and Meghan Hettinga all added personal-best marks in the shot put - Thilges by 1-09.50, Schmidt by 4.75, and Hettinga by 2-02.25. Sophomore Alex Dynes notched a season-best mark by 6.75 inches and junior Micayla TerWee added her sixth career top-three finish in indoor shot put.

Unattached freshman Bryce Ludwig led the Jackrabbits in the SDSU DII Invite, finishing off with a personal-best throw by 7-08.25 feet and winning the first flight of throwers, 21st overall. Fellow unattached teammates Trevor Begeman and Dominick Etherington added their first marks in the weight throw, Etherington's first mark as a Jackrabbit, as Begeman was runner-up in the flight behind Ludwig and Etherington was fourth.

Senior Abby Sudbeck is now atop the Jackrabbit season performance list with a season-best mark by 2-04.75 feet. Her mark would rank as the No. 7 throw all-time for SDSU if she hadn't already been on the list at No. 3.

Men's weight throw winner from Northern State, Tanner Berg, set the meet record at 64-09.75 feet.
