South Dakota State's
Rachel Preston was selected to the 2019 CoSIDA Academic All-District 6 Team, announced this week by the organization.
Preston, a sophomore nursing major, holds a 4.00 grade point average and has started all 20 games for the Jackrabbits this season. The Lakeville, Minnesota native has played all but 38 available minutes for South Dakota State's defense, helping the team post a program-record 14 shouts. SDSU's defensive unit has allowed only seven goals in 2019 alongside a 0.35 goals against average. Â
The Academic All-America program, run by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The teams are voted on by Sports Information Director's from around the nation. Preston will advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early December.
She is the 12th Jackrabbit to earn Academic All-District honors and the first since
Diana Potterveld in 2014.
The Jackrabbits are in action Saturday in the 2019 Summit League Championship, presented by U.S. Air Force Special Warfare title game. Kickoff is set for noon at Fishback Soccer Park against Denver.
