South Dakota State will open its 2020-21 men's basketball season in Manhattan, Kan., playing two games in the inaugural Little Apple Classic.
The Jackrabbits will face both Colorado and Drake in the multi-team event scheduled for Nov. 25 and 27 at Kansas State's Bramlage Coliseum.
"We are extremely excited to be a part of the Little Apple Classic," Jackrabbit head coach
Eric Henderson said. "It was important for our team and University to find an MTE that not only valued the safety of the student-athletes, but also provided high-quality competition. We can't wait to start our season in the Little Apple."
SDSUÂ begins the campaign on Wednesday, Nov. 25 against Colorado of the Pac-12 Conference. It will mark the fourth meeting between the Jacks and Buffaloes. Colorado has won each of the previous three, the most recent a 112-103 double overtime victory on Dec. 15, 2017 in Boulder.
After enjoying Thanksgiving Day in the Little Apple, the Jacks will play Drake on Friday, Nov. 27. The Bulldogs lead the series 5-3, but SDSU recorded wins over the Missouri Valley Conference program in 2016 and 2017.
While the Jacks have never played in Bramlage Coliseum, they have made three trips to Manhattan, the latest in 1963. The Jackrabbit head coach in those affairs was Jim Iverson, a Kansas State alum who started three seasons for the Wildcats.
South Dakota State returns all five starters from a squad that earned a share of the Summit League regular-season title. The Jacks went 22-10 overall, 13-3 in the league, and compiled a perfect 16-0 record at Frost Arena.
Ticket information as well as tip times and television broadcast information will be released at a later date.
