SIOUX FALLS — Summit League officials announced plans Wednesday to proceed with a full 16-game conference schedule for the 2020-21 men's and women's basketball seasons.
Â
Games are slated to begin Jan. 2, although both South Dakota State squads have a bye the opening weekend and are scheduled to open league play Jan. 8, with the Jackrabbits hosting Western Illinois in a doubleheader at Frost Arena. SDSU also will host Western Illinois in a twinbill on Jan. 9.
Â
With one exception, the remainder of the league schedule will follow a Friday-Saturday men's and women's doubleheader format consisting of two-game series against the same opponent at the same location. Besides the opening series versus Western Illinois, SDSU is scheduled to host North Dakota (Jan. 22-23), South Dakota (Feb. 5-6) and Kansas City (Feb. 26-27).
Â
Road series are scheduled at Omaha (Jan. 15-16), Denver (Jan. 29-30), Oral Roberts (Feb. 13-14) and North Dakota State (Feb. 19-20). The series at Oral Roberts will be played on a Saturday and Sunday.
Â
Game times and television coverage will be announced at a later date, as will the Jackrabbits' nonconference schedules.
Â
SDSU will operate under attendance restrictions for its home games during the 2020-21 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Basketball season ticket holders are encouraged to contact the Jackrabbit Ticket Office at (605) 688-5422 with questions regarding ticketing options.

The Summit League Basketball Championships are set for March 6-9, 2021, at the Denny Sanford PREMIERÂ Center in Sioux Falls.
