SIOUX FALLS – South Dakota State swimming and diving completed day one of the Jackrabbit Invitational in Sioux Falls Friday night.
SDSU won one event on the evening, however, there is no scoring in the two-day event.
Women
Alyssa Eckstein won the 100 fly with a career-best mark of 57.20.
Emily Pincus placed third (58.91),
Madison Sarantakos fourth (59.62) and
Mykin Gunning fifth (59.67).
Ashley Theobald paced the Jacks in the 500 free with a sixth-place finish of 5:21.65.
In the 200 IM,
Kristen Davis led the Jacks with a sixth-place finish of 2:13.08.
Katie Drezen led the way in the 50 free with a second-place time of 23.98.
Elisabeth Timmer finished fourth in 24.08 and Eckstein swam a career-best 24.15 to finish fifth.
Relays
The women's 'A' squad (Drezen,
Adria Golla,
Megan Schulte,
Grace Witherspoon) placed fourth in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:39.82.
In the 400 medley relay, the 'A' team (
Silke Voets, Timmer,
Bethany Bespoyasny, Eckstein) placed sixth in 4:10.70.
Men
Cody Watkins placed third in the men's 500 free with a career-best time of 4:45.47.
Max White also recorded a career-best time, finishing in fifth (4:49.66).
In the 100 fly, Damon Venner placed second in 50.99 and Alex Kraft finished fourth in 52.51, both career-bests.
Reece Stikeleather placed second in the 200 IM with a time of 1:55.88.
Parker Brown finished fourth with a career-best 1:59.06 and Venner fifth in 2:00.65.
Kraft (21.03) placed second and Watkins (21.11) placed fourth, each swimming career-best times.
Relays
In the 200 free relay, the men's 'A' team (
Henry Skinner, Kraft,
Josh Wuflestad, Brown) placed second with a 1:26.93 mark.

SDSU will wrap up the Jackrabbit Invitational Saturday at the Midco Aquatic Center. Prelims begin at 10 a.m. with diving at 1:30 p.m. and finals at 6 p.m.
