ST. LOUIS — South Dakota State right tackle Aron Johnson was named Monday as the Missouri Valley Football Conference Offensive Lineman of the Week for his performance in the Jackrabbits' Dakota Marker victory over second-ranked North Dakota State on Nov. 6.
A senior from Chisago City, Minnesota, Johnson graded at 86 percent with no pressures or sacks allowed as South Dakota State prevailed 27-19 at Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium. The Jackrabbits' 27 points tripled NDSU's season average for points allowed entering the game (8.1 points per game) and SDSU also rushed for 181 yards, more than doubling the Bison's average of 85.5 yards per contest.

Johnson is the second SDSU player to receive a league award this week, joining senior running back Pierre Strong, Jr. as the MVFC Offensive Player of the Week. Johnson's award was the second of his career.
South Dakota State, 7-2 overall and 4-2 in the MVFC, travels Saturday to in-state rival South Dakota. Kickoff for the South Dakota Showdown Series game is set for 1 p.m. at the DakotaDome in Vermillion.
