South Dakota State's Reid Pierzinski has been named one of the season's firstTicketSmarter Summit League Men's Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, league officials announced Tuesday.

A junior from Nisswa, Minnesota, Pierzinski won the 300-meter hurdles at the season-opening SDSU Holiday Open and Multi in 37.34 seconds Dec. 3 at the Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex. His winning time broke the school, meet and facility records. He also served as the anchor leg on the men's 4x400 team, which claimed victory in a time of 3:16.68, edging South Dakota by .29 seconds.

The Jackrabbit track and team will return to action at the Bison Cup in Fargo, North Dakota, on Jan. 15. Â
