South Dakota State softball has announced the addition of two athletes to the 2022-23 squad in Mikayla Chairez and Jaylee Wilson. The pair will graduate from high school in the spring and enroll at SDSU next fall.
Mikayla Chairez (Outfield - Blue Springs, Missouri)
Chairez, a Blue Springs, Missouri native, has accumulated a number of honors in her high school career, including first-team all-conference, all-district and all-region in 2021. She was also an all-state second team pick this year. She tallied 53 hits and 53 runs in 2021.
Chairez also earned all-conference and all-district accolades 2018-2020 and was named academic all-state in 2020.
Chairez is the daughter of Analisa Rodriguez and Ismael Chairez. She plans to work toward a pharmacy career at SDSU.
Jaylee Wilson (Infield - Saint Joseph, Missouri)
Wilson is a four-time first-team all-city selection from Saint Joseph, Missouri. She added first-team all-district honors to her senior resume and ranks second all-time in doubles in Missouri high school history.
Wilson earned all-district honors all four years of her career and was an all-state selection as a junior. She hit nine home runs and 24 double as a senior with a .552 batting average and .636 on-base percentage. She also posted a 1.076 slugging percentage.
Wilson has been named to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll four times. She is the daughter of Brian and Terny Wilson and plans to major in exercise science.
