South Dakota State soccer was honored as a Pinnacle Award Winner by United Soccer Coaches for the 2020-21 academic year as announced by the organization this week. The Jackrabbits are one of just eight NCAA DI women's teams to be recognized.
Â
The Team Pinnacle Award honors teams that have achieved a high level of fair play, educational excellence and success on the pitch.
Â
"The Pinnacle Award is the perfect representation of our program," said head coach
Brock Thompson. "It highlights our players' high academic achievements and sportsmanship in addition to the tremendous on-field accomplishments. To be one of eight NCAA DI women's programs honored shows how special our Jackrabbit Soccer culture is."
Â
The Jackrabbits were unbeaten in the 2020-21 season, finishing the year with a 12-0-5 overall record. The team has 12 athletes named to the Summit League Commissioner's List of Academic Excellence for the year and 21 honored on the Summit Academic Honor Roll.
Rachel Preston and
