OMAHA, Neb. – South Dakota State women's soccer played to a scoreless draw on Friday afternoon against Omaha in its season opener.

The Jackrabbits and the Mavericks are each 0-0-1, 0-0-1 Summit League to open their seasons.

Brock Thompson expressed.

South Dakota State finished the match with eight shots (three on goal) as a team.
Rachel Hewitt and
Abigail Kastens each had two attempts in the contest, while four additional Jackrabbits each recorded a shot.

Taylor Lock played the first 45 minutes in goal for the Jacks and recorded one save, while
Hailee Fischer played the final 65 minutes and tallied three saves.

The Jackrabbits faced pressure throughout, but held strong on the defensive end as
Rachel Preston and
Kaitlin Zabel played all 110 minutes as part of a strong back line that worked around 17 Omaha shots.

Scoreless after 90 minutes of regulation, State looked to break the tie as
Rachel Hewitt had an on target shot in the bottom center of the goal in the 98th, but Omaha goalkeeper Madeline Smith came up with the save.
Hailee Fischer tallied a save in the 103
rd minutes, but time ran out on both teams.

"I thought it took us 45 minutes to play the way that we wanted to, but that being said I'm very proud of our response after halftime," Thompson said.
