SIOUX FALLS – South Dakota State men's basketball won its fourth consecutive Summit League regular season championship and earned the top seed in next week's Summit League Championships in Sioux Falls.
The Jackrabbits finished the regular season with a 15-6 overall record and won the league with a 9-3 mark. SDSU will face No. 8 seed Omaha (5-19, 3-11 Summit League) at 5:45 p.m. Saturday, Mar. 6, at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls.
Saturday's opening round contest will be the first meeting of the season between the Jacks and Mavericks. The two were scheduled to play twice in Omaha in January, but the games were canceled due to COVID-19 protocols.
The winner of Saturday's affair will face either No. 4 seed Oral Roberts or fifth seed North Dakota in the first semifinal Monday, Mar. 8 at 5:45 p.m. The Golden Eagles and Fighting Hawks play Sunday at 5:45 p.m.
On the other side of the bracket, No. 2 seed South Dakota faces off with seventh-seeded Western Illinois Saturday at 8:45 p.m., and No. 3 seed North Dakota State takes on No. 6 Kansas City Sunday at 8:45 p.m. The winners take the floor Monday at 8:45 p.m. in the second semifinal.
All four quarterfinals and both semifinals will be televised on MidcoSN and streamed on Midco Sports Plus and ESPN+.
Tuesday's championship game is set for 8 p.m. CT and will be televised live on ESPN2 and available on WatchESPN.com or the ESPN app.
SDSU has won at least a share of seven of the last nine Summit League regular season titles and is 20-7 all-time in tournament play, winning the event five times.
