FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.—
Trent Francom turned in the final marks of his indoor career with a top-10 finish at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships Saturday inside the Randal Tyson Center.Â
Francom entered the meet with a PR of 18-0.50 from the SDSU Last Chance on Feb. 20 and was just one of eight vaulters in the country to pass 18 feet this season.Â
The Huron, S.D. native and school record holder cleared the opening bar of 17-4.50, but would fail on his next three attempts at 17-8.50.
In a field that would feature a new meet and facility record in Baylor athlete KC Lightfoot's 19-5.50, Francom finished his season as a top-10 vaulter in the country.Â
As SDSU's school record holder, Francom has owned at least part of the title since his freshman season in 2018. With the exception of Francom, no SDSU vaulter (indoors or outdoors) has ever passed 17 feet. Francom will look to continue to break past his personal bests this spring during State's outdoor season.
