LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Six members of the Summit League-champion South Dakota State softball team were named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association's All-Midwest Region Team, officials announced Thursday.
Earning first-team recognition from the Jackrabbits were freshman pitcher Tori Kniesche and outfielder Jocelyn Carrillo.
Kniesche, a native of Wayne, Nebraska, enters NCAA postseason play with a 21-1 record after posting a 1.58 earned run average with 178 strikeouts in 124 innings. The artist of two five-inning no-hitters this season, Kniesche was honored as the Summit League Pitcher of the Year and has limited the opposition to a .148 batting average en route to a 17-game winning streak.
Carrillo, a returning freshman from Palmdale, California, is hitting a team-best .427 with 11 home runs and 36 runs batted in as the Jackrabbits' starting center fielder. A first-team all-league selection and  the most valuable player of the Summit League Softball Championship, Carrillo also has compiled a .503 on-base percentage and an .831 slugging percentage – both of which are on pace to be single-season school records.
