Matt Dentlinger was named Friday to the Academic All-America Division I Men's Basketball Team selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Dentlinger, a junior from Arcadia, Iowa, was a third-team selection with a perfect 4.0 grade-point average while majoring in mechanical engineering. He is one of three players among the 17 honored on the first, second and third teams to hold a 4.0 GPA.
In addition, Dentlinger was one of three Summit League student-athletes to be honored, joining first-team honorees Max Abmas (Oral Roberts) and Matt Pile (Omaha).
On the court, Dentlinger has played in 87 games with 62 starts over his three seasons with the Jackrabbits, and has averaged 8.2 points and 4.4 rebounds per game while shooting 62.2 percent from the field. Dentlinger was a second-team all-Summit League performer during the 2019-20 season when he averaged 12.2 points and 6.0 rebounds per game.

This past season, Dentlinger posted averages of 10.2 points and 4.4 rebounds per game, shooting a career-best 63.7 percent from the field.
To be considered for Academic All-America honors, nominees must be at least a sophomore in athletic and academic standing, carry at least a 3.3 grade-point average and be a starter or key reserve. The process starts at the district level, with first-team selections advancing to the national ballot.
