South Dakota State's Kelsey Lenox was honored Thursday as a member of the 2020-21 Division I Academic All-District 6 Softball Team, which is selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Â
A junior from Chesterfield, Missouri, Lenox filled the designated player spot on the 11-player squad with a 3.71 grade-point average as an exercise science/pre-physician assistant major. She will advance to the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration later this month.
Â
On the field, Lenox was a first-team all-Summit League selection this past spring after batting .324 with 11 home runs and 47 runs batted in. She led the Summit League-champion Jackrabbits with 11 doubles, while her RBI total ranked second on the team and her home run total third. Two of her home runs were grand slams.
Â
The 2020-21 Academic All-District and All-America programs recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The Academic All-District 6 Team is made up of student-athletes from institutions in Arkansas, Iowa, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin and Wyoming. Candidates must be at least a sophomore in athletic and academic standing, a starter or key reserve on her team and carry at least a 3.3 GPA.
