The South Dakota State volleyball team turned in a dominant defensive performance, recording 15 team blocks in a three-set sweep of California Baptist Saturday afternoon at Frost Arena.

With the 25-19, 25-22 and 25-16 victory, the Jackrabbits ran their winning streak to three matches and improved to 4-1 overall. CBU dropped to 2-3 on the season.

Freshman middle blocker Ella Thompson led the charge at the net with eight blocks to go along with five kills. Setter Carly Wedel posted six blocks and 29 assists, while Annalee Ventling-Brown added four blocks and five kills.

The Jackrabbits' 15 blocks were one off the program record for a three-set match in the rally-scoring era (since 2001), which was set against Kansas City in 2009.

Outside hitter Chloe Stitt paced the Jackrabbits offensively with a match-high 14 kills, hitting at a .357 (14-4-28) clip. Crystal Burk tallied six kills.

SDSU out-hit the Lancers, .263 to .061, with Tatum Pickar leading SDSU with 13 digs.

CBU received seven kills from Scherine Dahoue, while the Lancers' Paige Johnstone led all players with 14 digs.

The Jackrabbits are slated to travel to Toledo, Ohio, next weekend for three matches at the Blue and Gold Tournament. SDSU will meet host Toledo at 7 p.m. Eastern Time (6 p.m. Central) Friday in its tournament opener.
