South Dakota State's track teams earned 24 top-three finishes through two meets over the weekend at the Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex.

At the Jim Emmerich Alumni Invitational on Saturday, Leah Hansen took first in the women's mile run with a career-best time of 4:55.10 that also placed her eighth all-time.

Brielle Dixon and Savannah Risseeuw finished in back-to-back placings, taking second and third, respectively, in the 60 meter hurdle finals as Collette Wolfe finished as runner-up in the 60 meter dash with a blazing time of 7.67 seconds.

Laura Bogue finished in second in the 600 meter run with a time of 1:40.17. Jessica Christoffer also took second in the 800 meter run in 2:15.68 as Tori Glazier ran in for third with her time of 2:16.21.

Cailee Peterson was crowned champion in the 3000 meter run, crossing the line in a career-best 9:48.19, the eighth best time in school history.

The women's 4x400 meter squad of Elizabeth Gillingham, Oksana Johnson, Emily Rystrom and Cerington Jones took third with a time of 3:54.54.

On the men's side, Josh Donahoe took third in the 60 meter hurdles in 8.37 seconds and Jared Wipf finished as runner-up in the 60 meter dash in 6.84 seconds.

Reid Pierzinski was crowned champion in the 400 meter dash with a career-best time of 47.38 seconds.

The Jackrabbit men dominated the 3000 meter run, claiming the top six spots. Ben Olson took first in 8:12.32, Daniel Burkhalter claimed second in 8:15.20 and Gabe Peters sped in for third in 8:12.10. Tom Breuckman earned fourth in 8:12.32, Joseph Minor-Williams took fifth with a time of 8:23.67 and Josh Becker took sixth in 8:25.15.

In jumps, Daniel Clarke finished as runner-up in the long jump with his leap of 23-11.00 and Tre Manning's jump of 23-09.25 placed him third.

Trent Francom, a returning NCAA qualifier, was crowned champion in the pole vault after clearing 17-10.75.

In the final tally, SDSU men finished in second with 138.50 points behind North Dakota State's 161.50 points. The SDSU women placed in third with 121.50 points as North Dakota State took second with 141 points and South Dakota earned first with 198.50 points.

On Friday, 24 Jackrabbits competed in the SDSU D2 Invitational that had nearly 1000 athletes in action.

Cormick Logue ran his first career mile run and grabbed fifth place with his time of 4:21.71.

Riley Bauer took second in the 1000 meter run with a career-best time of 2:27.72, which placed him fifth on the school record list.

A duo of Jackrabbits claimed the top two spots in the men's shot put, as Dominick Etherington took first with his throw of 53-07.50 and Dawson Schroeder finished second with a throw of 53-5.00.

On the women's side, Grace Waage took sixth in the 600 meter run with a career-best time of 1:39.46 as Faith Leiseth placed in second and Meghan Hettinga placed in sixth in the shot put with throws of 47-5.00 and 43-9.25, respectively.

Up Next: The Jackrabbits are scheduled to travel down to Lincoln, Nebraska on Jan. 29 for the Adidas Classic.
