South Dakota State offensive lineman Mason McCormick and defensive tackle Caleb Sanders were honored Thursday as members of the All-Football Championship Subdivision Team selected by HERO Sports.
Â
A senior from Sioux Falls, McCormick earned accolades from HERO Sports for the third season in a row and is working on a steak of 39 consecutive starts at left guard for SDSU. He has helped anchor a Jackrabbit offensive line that paved the way for the team to average 31.4 points and 367.6 yards of total offense per game in regular season action during the 2022 campaign.
Â
Sanders, a senior from Glenwood, Iowa, ended the regular season as the team's sack leader with five and ranked second on the squad with six tackles for loss for a unit that led the FCS ranks in rushing defense by allowing only 71.2 yards per game on the ground. Sanders, who tallied 24 total tackles in 11 regular season games, recently finished eighth in the voting for the Buck Buchanan Award, which is presented annually to the FCS's top defensive player.
Â
In addition, quarterback Mark Gronowski was named to the HERO Sports Sophomore All-America Team. After missing the entire 2021 fall campaign due to injury, Gronowski has made a successful return to the lineup by completing 185-of-285 passes (64.9 percent) for 2,247 yards and 18 touchdowns against five interceptions during regular season action. The Naperville, Illinois, native passed and rushed for touchdowns six times in 11 starts.

South Dakota State is seeded No. 1 for the FCS playoffs and will host eighth-seeded Holy Cross in quarterfinal action Saturday. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m. at Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium.
