Yankton native Matthew Mors has signed a letter of intent to join the South Dakota State men's basketball program, head coach
Eric Henderson announced Monday.
Mors, a 6-foot-7 forward, transfers to SDSU from Wisconsin, where he redshirted last season. He will have four years of eligibility beginning in the fall of 2022.
"We are ecstatic to announce Matthew's signing," Henderson said. "He brings an innate ability to make everyone around him better. His versatility to make plays on the perimeter or with his back to the basket make him extremely valuable and a perfect fit within our program. He obviously knows how to score, but his selflessness and ability, along with a willingness to pass, are what make him a winner. He is extremely excited to come home and represent Jackrabbit Nation."
One of the most decorated high school basketball players in South Dakota history, Mors earned the state's Gatorade Player of the Year honor in each of his final three seasons at Yankton High School.
Mors played six seasons of varsity basketball for the Bucks, garnering all-state recognition five times. He was chosen as
Argus Leader Player of the Year on three separate occasions.
He averaged at least 19 points per game every season at Yankton, helping the Bucks win the state championship in 2016.
Mors joins a Jackrabbit squad that won a school record 30 games last season. SDSU won the Summit League Tournament for the sixth time in 11 years, advancing to the NCAA Tournament as a 13-seed. The Jacks have won the Summit League's regular season crown in each of the last five seasons.
