Kalen Garry is the newest member of the South Dakota State men's basketball program.
Garry signed a letter of intent to join the Jackrabbits this fall, head coach
Eric Henderson announced Wednesday.
The 6-foot-3 guard from De Smet is the South Dakota Gatorade Player of the Year. He's also the Bulldogs' all-time leading scorer, tallying 2,091 points during his career.
"We are thrilled to announce the signing of Kalen," Henderson said. "He has a natural ability to put the ball in the basket. His athleticism allows him to attack the basket and be a tenacious defender. He comes from a winning program and understands all of the little things that it takes to be a champion. I can't wait for him to wear the Yellow and Blue!"
A four-time all-state selection, Garry won three Class B Player of the Year awards. He led the Bulldogs to a pair of state titles and a runner-up finish during his four years of high school basketball.
Garry combines with freshmen-to-be Tanner Te Slaa, William Kyle III and Jack Hastreiter, along with recent transfer Matthew Mors, to make up the latest class of Jackrabbits this fall.
South Dakota State had its most successful season in program history in 2021-22, winning 30 games en route to Summit League regular season and tournament titles.
