SDSU FLOURISHES IN DAY TWO OF ACTION

INDIANOLA, IOWA – The South Dakota State Jackrabbits track teams continued the weekend success with another key day of action at the Kip Janvrin Open and the Drake Relays.

Ben Olson was a big name on the day, as he finished as champion in the 1500-meter run at the Kip Janvrin Open. He clocked a personal-best time of 3:50.70, as Nathan Notgrass took 34^th in 4:07.03 and Noah Stewart finished 40^th in 4:08.73.

The 5,000-meter run results from yesterday's competition were finalized today, solidifying a seventh place finish for Ben Anteau, who ran a personal-best 14:44.55.

Andrew Moeller represented SDSU in the 400-meter dash, clocking a 51.95 for a PR as Stewart competed in the men's 800-meter run and grabbed a PR with a time of 1:58.83.

On the women's side of competition in Indianola, Lauren Van Dyke led a pack of Jacks in the 400-meter dash with a sizzling 57.36 finish for third. Tori Glazier claimed 14 in a career-best 59.62 seconds as Jaide Geurts clocked a 1:00.84 for a PR in 25^th place.

Also in the event, Harley Fischer finished 35^th with a personal-best 1:02.41 while Grace Waage finished closely behind in 36^th with a 1:02.46, also for a personal best.

Nicole Greyer claimed 20^th in the 800-meter run with a 2:21.51 for a PR as Kasey Klocek took 30^th with a 2:24.07 and Hannah Nelson ran a career-best 2:40.83 for 72^nd place.

10 Jacks competed in the women's 1500-meter run, led by Claire Beckman's 4:45.29 10^th place finish. Greyer (4:45.69) took 11^th, Kayla Christopherson (4:52.78) was 20^th and Klocek (4:56.27) grabbed 23^rd.

Abbey Stadler earned a PR in 5:04.54 for 36^th place, Malorie Schmoll took 37^th in 5:04.57 and Bridget Henne was 50^th in 5:15.75. Megan Sievers (55^th, 5:20.84), Hannah Nelson (56^th, 5:21.45) and Hannah Neusch (61^st, 5:23.78) rounded out the SDSU finishers.

Bailey Dergan grabbed a top-10 finished in the 3000-meter steeplechase, claiming seventh in a career-best time of 11:14.93.

Dergan also found success in the 5k on Thursday night, earning 14^th place in a personal-best 17:55.59. Caitlin Bright led the Jackrabbit competitors with a fifth place, 17:35.66 showing.

Henne (19:21.42) took 56^th, Stalder (19:46.79) was 66^th, Neusch (19:58.72) grabbed 69^th and Sievers clocked a personal-best 20:18.64 for 72^nd.

Action continued on the blue oval at the Drake Relays, where the mid-distance runners found success for the Jackrabbits.

Cerington Jones earned 14^th place in the 400-meter dash in 56.80 seconds as Oksana Johnson took fifth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:09.29.

Cailee Peterson clocked a 4:22.94 in the 1500-meter run for a sixth place finish while the 4x800-meter relay squad of Glazier, Geurts, Beckman and Waage took ninth with a time of 9:17.67, now the seventh fastest mark on record.

On the men's side, Reid Pierzinski grabbed fifth place in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 52.06 seconds.

Riley Bauer earned fourth place in the 800-meter run in 1:49.36 as Daniel Burkhalter took sixth in the 1500-meter run with a 3:43.60 showing.

The 4x800-meter relay team of Carter Knaus, Josh Becker, Moeller and Michael Schwinghamer finished ninth in 7:36.65, which is now the fourth fastest mark in school history.

SDSU now looks to wrap up with the final day of competition at the Drake Relays while also kicking off the Rock Chalk Classic in Kansas on Saturday.
