TULSA, OKLAHOMA –
Ben Anteau earned the only medal for SDSU, and a school record was broken on the second day of action at the Summit League Outdoor Championships as many other athletes qualified for finals.
SDSU dominated the 3000-meter steeplechase, led by Anteau who clocked a 9:14.43, giving him a third place finish for the bronze medal.
Also in the race,
Josh Becker (9:16.17) scored a fourth place finish,
Carter Knaus (9:17.71) finished fifth,
Lucas Caminiti (9:22.36) was seventh and
Michael Schwinghamer (9:57.93) grabbed 11
th.
Pierre Lear clocked a blazing 14.08 in the 110-meter hurdles for a new school record and qualification for finals. Lear now holds the school record for the indoor 60-meter hurdles and outdoor 110-meter hurdles.
Josh Donahoe finished in fifth place in the decathlon with a career-best 6323 points.
Dominick Etherington grabbed seventh in the shot put with a 57-06.25 as
Dawson Schroeder took ninth with a throw of 55-11.00.
Tre Manning claimed fourth place in the long jump with his leap of 23-01.75. Tristen Hanna (21-07.25) finished 13
th and
Tyler Goehring (21-04.00) took 14
th.
Daniel Clarke and
Matthew Stahl each qualified for the 100-meter dash finals after Stahl grabbed a PR in 10.70 seconds.
Stahl (21.29, PR) and
Jake Werner (21.71, PR) each qualified for the 200-meter dash finals.
Thailan Hallman will move on to the 400-meter dash finals after clocking a 49.07 for a PR.
Reid Pierzinski,
Emmanual Phoulom-Smith and Lear (55.40, PR) are all headed to the 400-meter hurdle finals.
Riley Bauer,
Daniel Burkhalter and Tom Breuckman will all compete in the 800-meter run finals
On the women's side of competition, Lizzy Gillingham finished the heptathlon in seventh place with a career-best 4395 points.
Faith Leiseth led the way for SDSU in the discus throw, taking fourth place with her throw of 152-09.00. Mildred Young was seventh with her throw of 146-00.00 and
Kennedy Morris was just behind in eighth with a 144-05.00.
True Thorne finished 11
th with her throw of 135-03.00 and
Meghan Hettinga rounded out the Jackrabbits in 13
th place with a 128-09.00.
Jaiden Boomsma lept her way into fifth place in the long jump with a 19-08.00 for a PR while
Annie Wendt (18-03.25) was 15
th.
Addison Eisenbeisz finished sixth in the high jump with a clearance of 5-05.25.
Kayla Christopherson clocked a 11:07.01 in the 3000-meter steeplechase for fourth place.
Claire Beckman (11:17.80) took sixth and
Bailey Dergan (11:37.39) earned seventh.
Rich-Ann Archer,
Jaiden Boomsma and
Collette Wolfe all qualified for the 100-meter dash finals as Archer also advanced to the 200-meter dash finals.
Savannah Risseeuw (13.92),
Brielle Dixon (13.99) and
Collette Wolfe (14.05) all qualified for the 100-meter hurdle finals. Each girl also scored new PRs with their times.
Cerington Jones and
Lauren Van Dyke advanced to tomorrow's 400-meter dash finals.
Oksana Johnson (2:07.61),
Cailee Peterson (2:07.88, PR) and
Jessica Christoffer (2:09.73, PR) all advanced to the 800-meter run finals. Peterson's time tied the meet record while Johnson's time proceeded to break the meet record.
UP NEXT: The final day of league championships is set to kick off at 11 a.m. with the field events while track events return at 12:20 p.m. Saturday afternoon.
