TULSA, OKLAHOMA – South Dakota State scored 16 medals and
Ben Olson was named the Track Championship MVP in the final day of competition at the Summit League Outdoor Championships.
Olson earned the championship award title after earning two league titles over the weekend in the 10k (31:37.49) and the 5k (14:54.44).
Other Saturday medal winners for the Jackrabbits include
Daniel Burkhalter and Tom Breuckman in the 1500-meter run. Burkhalter finished second in 3:48.30 while Breuckman was third with a time of 3:48.30.
Daniel Clarke took third in the 100-meter dash in 10.73 seconds as
Pierre Lear won the 110-meter hurdle finals in 14.18 seconds, one-tenth of a second off his school-record time set in Friday's prelims.
Reid Pierzinski clocked a 50.91 in the 400-meter hurdles for first place, which broke the previous meet record set back in 1990 and is now a new school record and new personal best.
Emmanual Phoulom-Smith also grabbed a career-best 52.17 for the silver medal.
Riley Bauer grabbed a second place finish for the silver medal in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:50.36.

Matthew Stahl teamed up for the 4x100-meter relay and took second in 40.57 seconds, the fifth fastest time in school history.
Tristen Hanna earned the title of champion in the triple jump, taking first place with a distance of 48-04.50, now tied for eighth all-time.
Trent Francom collected yet another title for the Jacks after clearing 17-03.75 in the pole vault for first place and the gold medal.
The South Dakota State men finished with 205 points after the weekend, placing second behind North Dakota State's 241.5 points. South Dakota (163), St. Thomas (63.5), Oral Roberts (59), North Dakota (56) and Western Illinois (23) rounded out the final team scores.
Rich-Ann Archer was crowned the 100-meter dash Summit League champ, taking top prize in 11.78 seconds as
Cerington Jones took the bronze in the 400-meter dash with a 55:01.
Oksana Johnson broke her own Summit League Championship record to win the gold in the 800-meter run in 2:05.48.
Cailee Peterson was crowned the 1500-meter Summit League champion, crossing the line in 4:25.39 for gold.
Leah Hansen earned herself another Summit League title, this time in the 5000-meter run. She grabbed the gold medal in 17:11.26.
Lauren Van Dyke, Johnson,
Tori Glazier and Jones earned a bronze medal in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:48.26.
SDSU women finished third with 136 points as South Dakota won the team title with 243 points and North Dakota State was runner-up with 225 points. North Dakota (97) finished fourth, followed behind by Oral Roberts (74), St. Thomas (19), Omaha (13) and Western Illinois (10).
UP NEXT: Should SDSU have any qualifiers for the NCAA West Prelims, athletes will compete in Fayetteville, Arkansas May 25-28.
