Three members of the South Dakota State softball team were named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association's All-Midwest Region Team.
Tori Kniesche was selected to the first team,
Rozelyn Carrillo was named to the second team and
Grace Glanzer is on the third team.
Tori Kniesche, a sophomore, is 18-5 on the season and holds a 1.42 ERA heading into NCAA postseason play. She has 253 strikeouts in 153 innings of action, two strikeouts shy of SDSU's single season strikeout record of 255. She averages 11.6 strikeouts per seven innings, ranking second in the nation. Kniesche is holding opponents to a .145 batting average and has recorded three no-hitters this season, including her first seven-inning no-hitter. The Wayne, Nebraska native set a new program record with 20 K's in a single game against St. Thomas on April 29. Kniesche was named to the All-Summit League First Team and was honored as the MVP of the Summit League Tournament.
Rozelyn Carrillo has started all 51 games at shortstop and leads the Jackrabbits with a .388 batting average. The Summit League Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year batted .477 in conference games and posted a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage in those contests. She has 64 hits, 47 RBIs and 11 home runs on the season.
Grace Glanzer, the Summit League Pitcher of the Year, posted a league-best .63 ERA in conference contests while going 11-0 with seven complete games and four shutouts. Overall, Glanzer is 20-5, has a 1.78 ERA, 136 strikeouts and is holding opponents to a .211 batting average. She was named to the Summit League All-Tournament Team.
After earnign the Summit League's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, South Dakota State has been assigned to the Orlando (Fla.) Regional and will meet Michigan in opening-round action at 11 a.m. ET Friday.
