JACKS EARN TOP SEED IN CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT

South Dakota State softball will host the Summit League Tournament this week as the No. 1 seed at the Jackrabbit Softball Stadium. The Jackrabbits earned the top seed by winning the Summit League regular season title.Â
The six-team tournament will be played May 11-14 in Brookings. First round games will be played on Wednesday as single elimination contests. The remainder of the championship will be double elimination with the championship game being held on Saturday. As the top seed, SDSU (37-10, 18-2 Summit) receives a bye into Thursday's 11 a.m. semifinal game. Omaha (29-12, 17-4 Summit) also receives a bye into the second round as the No. 2 seed.
Rounding out the six-team field will be No. 3 seed North Dakota State (28-21, 10-8 SL), No. 4 seed South Dakota (27-23, 11-10 SL), No. 5 seed Kansas City (13-33, 9-11 SL) and No. 6 seed North Dakota (14-38, 4-16). St. Thomas, who finished sixth in the league standings, is ineligible for the Summit League tournament due to NCAA Division I transition.
First pitch of the 2022 Summit League Tournament will take place at 2 p.m. (CT) on Wednesday when No. 4 seed South Dakota takes on No. 5 seed Kansas City, with the winner advancing to play top-seeded South Dakota State on Thursday. Third-seeded North Dakota State and sixth-seeded North Dakota will square off in Wednesday's second game at approximately 4:30 p.m. (CT), with the winner advancing to play No. 2 seed Omaha.
Thursday's semifinal games will begin at 11 a.m. (CT), with the two victorious schools advancing to Friday's winner's bracket contest. The two losing schools will play at approximately 4 p.m. (CT) Thursday in a win or go home game. Friday's winner's bracket game will be played at 1 p.m. (CT) with the loser having to play at approximately 3:30 p.m. (CT) to earn a spot in Saturday's championship.
First pitch for Saturday's championship game will be at 1 p.m. (CT) with an if necessary game at approximately 3:30 p.m. (CT). The Summit League champion will earn the League's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
