BROOKINGS, S.D. – The South Dakota State soccer team will don a commemorative kit on Sunday as part of the Jackrabbits' Title IX Celebration game against Bemidji State at Fishback Soccer Park. Kick off for the match between the Jacks and Beavers is slated for 1 p.m.Â
Â
The 2022-23 athletic year marks the 50th of women's sports across the United States being provided at an equal level at federally funded educational institutions.Â
Â
South Dakota State has had a deep history in success with the women's programs it has sponsored as the Jackrabbits transitioned to its current level in Division I athletics. That success has carried over to the soccer program at SDSU, which has won seven conference tournament championships, claimed six Summit League regular season titles and has advanced to the NCAA Tournament six times.Â
Â
Â
Dr. Peggy Gordon (Elliott) Miller, president of South Dakota State University from 1998-2006, was instrumental in the inception of the program which began play with its inaugural season in 2000. She will provide the coin flip prior to the game.Â
Â
The student-athletes jerseys will be worn once, on SDSU's home opener, and will be available for auction at a later date. Tickets for the match are available online at GoJacks.com. SDSU students can attend athletic events for free with their student ID.Â
