JACKRABBIT DUO EARNS WEEKLY HONORS

SIOUX FALLS, SD – The South Dakota State cross country teams swept the TicketSmarter Summit League Peak Performer of the Week awards as Ben Olson and Leah Hansen claimed the honors, league officials announced Tuesday.
Olson was the first men's Summit League athlete to cross the finish line at the Roy Griak Invitational, taking 18th place in the 8k race with a time of 24:38.7. His placing helped push the Jackrabbits to an overall eighth place finish in an elite 17-team field.
This is his third career weekly award and his second this season.
Hansen finished 28th with a time of 21:33.5 in the women's 6k and was also the first women's Summit League athlete to finish. Her efforts led the SDSU women's squad to an 11th place showing at the meet out of 20 teams.
This is her fourth career weekly award and her first this season.
The Jackrabbits will travel to Sioux City, Iowa for the Briar Cliff Invite on Saturday, Oct 1. Start time is set for 10:30 a.m.
