SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – South Dakota State pitcher
Tori Kniesche completed three scoreless appearances in the Jackrabbits' opening weekend of play and for her efforts was named as the TicketSmarter Co-Peak Pitcher of the Week on Monday, Feb. 13, The Summit League announced.
Kniesche didn't give up a run in 16 combined innings and is off to a 2-0 start.
The Wayne, Neb., native was SDSU's opening day starter on Friday and claimed a win over the Nebraska Cornhuskers. She allowed just three hits and struck out five while not giving up a walk in a complete-game performance.
Kniesche recorded her sixth no hitter of her career the following day in a win against Sam Houston Saturday. Kniesche struck out nine batters and was a walk and hit by pitch away from a perfect game. She closed out the weekend stay in Huntsville by picking up a save. Kniesche pitched two shutout innings, giving up a hit and striking out four against Northwestern State on Sunday.
The weekly honor from the league is the eighth of Kniesche's college career.
South Dakota State stands at 4-1 overall heading into a doubleheader at Stephen F. Austin on Wednesday, Feb. 15.
