Rozelyn Carrillo and
Tori Kniesche were major contributors in South Dakota State's previous four victories and for their efforts were named The Summit League's TicketSmarter Peak Performers of the Week, conference officials announced Monday.Â

SDSU improved to 11-0 in Summit League play after completing a series sweep of North Dakota State on April 17, followed by earning consecutive victories as part of its doubleheader this past Sunday versus North Dakota.Â

Carrillo went 5-for-10 at the plate in the four-game stretch. She scored a team-high six runs, hit a double and a triple while producing three RBIs. The Jackrabbits' starting shortstop is hitting .361 in conference play, third best among Summit League players, while on the overall season she ranks tied for second in the league in RBIs (32).

Kniesche threw a combined 15 innings in the past week and gave up four hits in the stretch while striking out 26, walking six and not giving up a run. She earned two victories and picked up a save during the four-game span. Kniesche has not given up a run in 57 2/3 innings pitched in conference play and is 8-0 against Summit League competition.Â

Carrillo claimed Peak Performer of the Week honors for the first time this season and the fourth time in her college career. Kniesche was chosen as the Pitcher of the Week for the fifth time in 2023 and is now up to 13 weekly honors as a Jackrabbit.Â

South Dakota State is next scheduled to travel to Kansas City to face the Roos in a three-game series starting on April 29.Â
