As South Dakota State prepares to kick off the 2023 football season, some modified policies and procedures will be in place for the Jackrabbits' home opener against Western Oregon on Aug. 31.
Â
In order to best accommodate Thursday's class schedule, campus parking lots, including the main tailgating area north of Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium, will open to football fans at 4 p.m. (Aug. 31 only). To enter the parking lots on the west side of the stadium from the U.S. Highway 14 Bypass, vehicles must have a valid parking pass for those areas. Reserved lots east of the stadium are to be accessed from Jackrabbit Avenue. In addition, several pay lots for general parking are located south and east of Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium. Cost is $10 per stall and transactions are cash only.
Â
A portion of North Campus Drive, from Jackrabbit Avenue west to stadium parking lots, will close at 4 p.m.

Â
Pre-game ceremonies featuring a facility announcement and the coin toss conducted by former Jackrabbit head coach John Stiegelmeier begin at 6:55 p.m.
Â
Fans are asked to allow extra time when traveling to the game via Interstate 29 as northbound traffic at the new Exit 130 interchange may be down to one lane. Stadium-related traffic should use either Exit 132 or 133 due to several street construction projects in the area around the new interchange.
Â
Stadium gates will open at 5:30 p.m., with beer sales starting at 6 p.m. Wristband stations will be located throughout tailgating areas and stadium concourses; Board of Regents policy requires each fan consuming alcohol to be prepared to present valid ID at all times as age verification will take place at points of sale and beyond.
Â
All transactions at alcohol kiosks in the stadium concourses (beer and seltzer) will be processed by credit card only. For SDSU students, payment via campus meal plans will not be accepted for alcohol sales.Â
Â
Due to temperatures in the long-range forecast expected to be in the 90s on gameday, fans are reminded to take necessary heat-related precautions when on campus. Fans are permitted to bring one refillable water bottle and/or a sealed plastic water bottle into the stadium (please note bag policy). Water fountains are located in the main west stadium bathrooms, with additional bottled water available for purchase at stadium concession stands.
Â
Tickets for the Aug. 31 game can be purchased online at JackrabbitTickets.com. The stadium ticket office will open at 4 p.m. on gameday.
